How to find out train fare? Taichung-Hualien

I am going to Hualien from Taichung on Saturday and I cannot find the cost of the train fare anywhere online, I feel like there is something really obvious that I am overlooking?

I think it can be kinda buggy and you have to begin ordering a ticket to see the price…but you can only do that during business hours. If I recall correctly, that is…

o/w ticket on TRA is approx $750-800.

It’s quicker to take the HSR to Taipei, and change there. That costs slightly more, of course.

7-11 do sell HSR tickets on the ibon machine!

I hear there is a bus that cuts across the middle of the island Via Heping, but it takes around 7-8 hours! where as the fast train route is only 4 and a half hours but a return is $1400.
