My parents were married in Taiwan in the mid-60’s before they moved to the US. My father recently passed away and we need to have an official certificate to provide to Social Security for my mother to secure survivor benefits. I reached out to AIT, but they only seem to respond to email inquiries, so still waiting on that. Is there a service I can use that will secure this for a feee? Or do we go through the Taipei Household Registration Office? I told my mom to call them because my Chinese isn’t as proficient, but she’s 80 y/o. Does anyone have any insight into the process? Many thanks!
AIT will not help.
Any relatives in Taiwan can help?
If not, buy Skype minutes and call up local number of district administration in Taipei and see what xan do.
Others here may have further suggestions.
Maybe try to call a Taiwan Office-slash-embassy in the US?
This is a long shot, but, are these your parents?
I’ve tried the “consulate” office in LA and they can’t/won’t help. So, we’ll have to try the Household office in Taipei. I’m surprised there isn’t a service of some sort that could facilitate this - it’s something that I’d be happy paying for.
