My mother is Taiwanese but she lives in Brazil for more than 40 years already. She’s recently found a significant other and wants to marry him, however she needs the single status certificate and the clean criminal record both from Taiwan to do so. I have already called our local TECO and they said they don’t provide these type of services.
Does anyone know how to obtain these documents while overseas? Does she need to go back Taiwan just to get these documents?
As for single certificate
She can appoint an agent to get it for her, or some HHR office maybe issue the document via snail mail with relevant documents. She could ask to her HHR office via e-mail or phone.
English is not my first language, so I got to ask: what is a HHR office? Is there any reliable agent service I could hire online?
She can read some mandarim, but she came to Brazil when she was 14, so I guess she is not able to read some stuffs. Anyway, I forwarded that link to her and she will take a look.
Again, thanks for replying.
If you tell her City or County, I will look for a list of HHR offices there.
I’d recommend to contact with her HHR office first before looking for an agency, because she may need to prepare the same documents anyway by herself in Brazil.
As for police document, yes, she should appoint an agent to receive the certificate. It can be applied for online, but someone should go to receive it in person.
I don’t know any agent directly, but maybe you could ask to a travel agent? If I remember correctly, someone posted a list of agents on this forum. I will look for it and repost here if I would find.
Or, if she knows any relatives in Taiwan, she could contact with them?
This Chinese page explains how to apply for household registration transcript via mail. And, she can apply for any office in Taiwan, so she may pick one from Taipei’s offices if her HHR office is not very helpful.
