One thing one could try with the ‘hanging out’ thing rather than the date is to treat the hanging out like it’s a date. Always leave after an hour to an hour and a half.
If nothing is ‘progressing’, after a few of these I would mention you have to leave as you are meeting a woman. See how she reacts both then and in-between next seeing her.
But one should be chasing other women anyway, as she is not a girlfriend.
No Taiwanese women I had relationships with were ever like that, thankfully.

one really easy way to see if shes a taiwanese girl is to ask her for her passport 
it works the other way too. Back in the day there was a very cute tw girl working at the restaurant i went to often and i asked her out and she would give me a time frame that she was available like a 2 or 3 hour “window” . She would be right on time to the date (like a restaurant date or cafe date or movie date) and right on the button she would dissappear. NOt literally but she had to go , she would tell you in advance exactly the time slot you had. And she would tell you she had other engagements. Pretty slick i guess. She was like 20 and cute as a button so i guess her time is in demand. And its like a time share, you pay for your slot (back in the day dates never paid for your time together) and maybe next week get another slot. Never got around to whether any of these “engagements” could be horizontal ! i was shy back then.
you knew she was unusual because most tw girls are never on time to a date. But they usually didnt have other engagements that day either. She was yours for the day basically.
I think asking "Do you like me?’ on a date is a bit weird. You’ll know if she likes you by obvious signs.
I seem to remember the first Taiwanese girl I dated was annoyed that I didnt officially ask her to be my gf and that I just naturally switched to bf gf phase. She told me that was Taiwanese culture.
Never had that experience since. She was the type to make problems out of thin air though.
