How to legally get and drive a scooter?

Where do I start for being able to drive a scooter?

The exhausting heat is making me think I need one.

Get an electric one or it’s going to exhaust you even more.

Get your scooter license first.

For me it was simple. I used my foreign licence to get my Taiwanese car and scooter licenses. No tests, only paperwork and a physical exam.

My wife got her car license but couldn’t get her scooter license because she didn’t have a motorcycle license on her foreign license. To get her scooter license she needs to do the practical scooter test. I take her to the local practice area daily.

Buying the scooter is easy. I found one on the “Taiwan motorcycles and scooters. Buy, Sell, Rent, Parts and Information” Facebook group. Then it’s just a matter of transferring it into your name.

If you don’t have a licence, you can take a written test (I think English is available) and a driving test (I think you can use their scooters). That only lets you drive smaller engine scooters.

And the insurance.

Yes, that too. There were a lot of insurance offices near the motor registry.
