How to read hot water gas gauge?

How does one read the heating/cooking gas gauge?
The gauge I bought numbers from 0 to 10. I assumed 0 means it’s empty, and 10 means it’s full. However, today I called for gas and the one gauge only read 4.5 and the other tank 5 when I got the new bottles. What is the gauge supposed to read if the bottle is full? It’s the big bottles.
Thank you!
(I already posted this question in another thread but got no response so I thought I’d go illegal and do a double post. Sorry!)

Picture please?

Here is a picture.

Twonavels, is there a manual adjusting valve/screw on the gauge, or is just a gauge.
If there is a valve/screw you can set the pressure that actually goes out to gauge, let’s say both to 5 or so, than through the the pressure reducer/regulator

BTW, are the tanks the exact same size? They are normally fille by weight not by pressure … so, if on eis slightly bigger than it should have a lower pressure … no?

That pressure gauge won’t work like the ones on scuba tanks (which monitor air pressure and therefore how much air is left in the tank.) The vapor above a liquefied gas is at almost constant pressure until all the liquid boils off. So that gauge will only tell you what you can easily figure out by shaking the tank - either that the tank has some liquefied gas in it or that it is empty.

Then, a gauge on a LPG/butane tank is … useless, or at least of not much use … :ponder:

Yup … a more useful gauge would be an old bathroom scale. Just keep the tank on top of the scale and it will fairly accurately show how much gas has been used. I think there could be a $$$-making opportunity for a custom-made scale for 20kg gas tanks Who wants to be a millionaire?
