How to write "Town of the Lion"

Help please. I’m trying to get the alternative characters for the Tibetan town of Ali 阿里. It’s refered to as Senge Khabab in Tibetan which means “town of the lion”. The alternative Chinese name for Ali is Shiquanhe, which supposed means the same thing. But other than shi1 meaning “lion” I can’t figure out the rest.

Lion spring? That brings up some ace mental pictures.

阿里 (Ali) = 狮泉河 (Shiquanhe) = 噶尔 (Gaer) = 森格藏布 (Senge Khabab)

Oh, he2 as in river. That makes sense as the Indus flows throw the town and is the Lion River in Tibetan mythology.

This map confirms that Ali is 狮泉河.

Thanks all.
