Drunks and sleepy people are driving home at that time.
Very good point.
Brilliant photo!

My jealous inner ego loathes you entirely ![]()
Nasty climb, nasty odour.
Went I got to the final switch back, I was all “oh, that’s a great smell” and it immediately went from regular to extremely potent in a matter of seconds and even I couldn’t even take it.

Talking about nasty climbs…

I did this one a few days ago, and it has this:
No, it doesn’t get better after the corner.
The afternoon storm (it was a night ride) in that area was so strong that sections of the road were more like rivers, so we descended through a less steep side of the mountain, which was even more flooded. So, yeah, flooded road, no street lights, it was fun (kind of).
That looks like a lot of fun.
As part of a desire to cycle more, and not end up like one of the old guys I see shuffling around my area at five miles a day, headed out at 4 in the morning yesterday, thinking I might be able to cycle south along the riverside to Tucheng, then cut east via Tiangshang Mountain and then north-east to Bitan and back on the paths. Except I got just past Chengtian Temple and found two out of three roads blocked off with fencing. The third was so steep I didn’t even want to push my bike up it, let alone attempt riding it.
Is there any reliable source of information about which roads are or aren’t open that’s either in Chinese or that’ll give me comprehensible results in Google Translate? It feels like a significant number of trips get cut short when I find I can’t go any further.
Was it here?
Roads were flooded a week ago.
There’s this
https://bobe168.tw/highway/enter.html
But either it’s only for national roads or the information is not very comprehensive.
Thanks, but that seems to be a broken link?
It works for me
Something weird about my internet connection probably.
No, that website has broken DNS. Some issues with name servers. I also can not use it without workarounds.

Best bet is CCTV apps. I usually use this one:
Another is word of mouth. Visit the local bike shop often for chats and they’ll most likely be in the know for road closures and conditions for roads that people regularly ride on.
For example, found out about LSK being closed off from club mates that shared this:
Will be fixed.
