I need a break from Taiwan

Because I prefer to go somewhere that isn’t always 30C or above all the time…

Have forumusans learned nothing in last 3-5 years with the resident Lutherian?
Any time help/suggestions are requested, the answer comes back with some excuse it won’t work.
Like the Nike commercial says, for fuq’s sake, ‘just do [something/anything]’

What’s the minimum acceptable temperature, TL?

Anything below 16 is ideal for me. I don’t think Vietnam ever gets that cold.

Can’t you travel in northern India then or Nepal

Japan and Korea is closer

Obviously. So go there then? It won’t be as cheap though.

Cheap to travel, close, or cold. You can pick two, but probably not three.

Yeah ok, they are also expensive, but whatever

Why will this advice work?

Just to give a headsup

I have a female friend here who spent three years doing this at a casino in Manila. She just wanted to move abroad and found the job , needing no experience

She was making on average 250k ntd per month(including tips)

They also paid for her accommodation, which was a high-end service apartment that was part of a golf course complex. She could use all the facilities there like the gym and swimming pool

She loved it the first year, but then got burnt out being exposed to the Chinese criminal underworld and having to be around degenerate gamblers who would go 2-3 days without sleep while still gambling.

I don’t know but this seems like a good way to end up on the involuntary organ donor list in Cambodia

I wonder if you could teach English somewhere cold(er)? Would you be eligible for a job in Japan, northern China, etc? You’re clearly a native speaker.

Yea but you forget Asians are never considered native speakers by school owners. I seen Russians teach English before.

Maybe you’d be better off just staying in Taiwan then, given that every option suggested doesn’t meet your requirements. Who would have thought? :man_shrugging:

At least it’s fairly cold at the moment, and you wouldn’t need to worry about your cats.

Dalat gets that cold at night, and is in the low 20s during the day, pretty much year-round.

Yeah, but it’s too warm in the daytime, a bit more difficult to get to, and [insert some other random problem with going to Vietnam].

As is typical on forumosa though, he only asked for help with his cats, but is now receiving weather advice about Asia, warned about the perils of being a female croupier in Manilla, and generally being packed off around the globe.

I believe this is the topic. It’s probably in the wrong forum too. It’s a request about pets, not advice on curing wonderlust.

The thread title is “I need a break from Taiwan”, and also he’s clearly asking for suggestions about how to do that cheaply, for which destination is a major factor:

If he just wants a cheap cat-sitting service and has already found this ideal place that’s cheap, cold, and just off the coast of Taiwan that nobody else knows about, that should have been the thread title and original post…

@Taiwan_Luthiers is not complaining about the travel suggestions, so everything is fine so far.

Hey, pretty sure one @Taiwan_Luthiers in this thread is sufficient…
