Have forumusans learned nothing in last 3-5 years with the resident Lutherian?

I believe this is the topic. It’s probably in the wrong forum too. It’s a request about pets, not advice on curing wonderlust.

It’s pretty obvious what to do with pets when you go on holiday. It’s usually costly, and the pets don’t enjoy it.

Bhutan is in Asia and is supposed to be one of the happiest places on Earth. I saw a movie called “A Yak in the Classroom”, which took place in the most remote school on earth (or something. Like two weeks hike to get there?). Waaaayyyy up in the mountains, so it snows there (at least in the winter). They use the Tibetan script, which I think is pretty cool.

As for cats, make friends with people who will love them and ask them to help you out. Please pay them in actual money. There’s also pet hotels, but they are not cheap and basically your pet is in a tiny cramped cage until you get back. Moderately acceptable for a few days, no good for a week or more.

I really don’t want to start channeling TL here, but Bhutan is also pretty expensive to visit and recently increased its daily tourism fee to US$200 (not including everything else you need to pay for).

I’d also be complaining if I was paying that every day…

Chinese people are degenerate gamblers of epic proportions and I guess it’s easier to get visas for Taiwanese rather than Chinese.

There are loads of casinos around Manila basically set up for Chinese customers. Since corruption crackdowns, Chinese are more reticent to flash cash in Macau, so Philippines can attract high rollers

In short, high salaries because a lot of hot cash flowing about and these are basically mafia operations. Most of her salary came from tips though

If you can find a house-sitting gig in your preferred destination, it will save you tons of money. I know a few early retires incorporating this into their full-time travel.

And she probably looks completely hot and she likely has to work very hard to maintain that look, or else she will be replaced in a new york minute. These kind of gigs are extremely competitive. And no, I won’t work in a casino unless the job is engineering related. Society, especially more repressive ones, are designed to eliminate anyone who isn’t neurotypical.

That said I don’t know what to do with the cats without paying huge money, probably more than the airfare itself if I was gone for more than a week. I heard cat hotels are more expensive than people hotels. I actually asked a neighbor who is a cat lover and she basically said no (I don’t know the reasoning, but probably typical Taiwanese “not my concern”). She’s like “where do you think you’re going”.

So even if I have the money the leaving Taiwan thing is probably not going to happen unless I can either take the cats with me or give them away.
