I haven’t been in Taiwan for two years, but last time I was there I overstayed by 1 day and had to do a hong kong run. That was a huge pain.
Anyway, I’m going to NTU for a year and soon I’ll be applying for the Visa. Will that overstay (it was on a different passport) get me rejected?
Guess it depends on your country of origin, but as far as I know, any overstay means you can not receive a ‘landing visa’ for one year. So for that year after an ‘overstay’ you need to have ‘work visa’ or something with more substance then just a ‘landing visa’. Went through all these rules a few years ago when I overstayed also.
Good luck and I am sure others can give more advice but I think you will be fine. Then again this is Taiwan and they have a lot of ironing out to do with their system.

I doubt you will have any issues whatsoever. Overstayed by one day 2 years ago? Shouldnt be a problem.
a few years ago i overstayed by 1 day and on that day flew to hk and got a visa without any questions.

If i overstayed for maybe 5 days, went to Thailand for a week and came back. Do you think I’ll still receive a 30 day Landing Visa? Thanks!

Most likely scenario is that you’d have to pay a fine when you leave Taiwan, and would be barred from re-entry for a year.
Please do not plan an overstay.
