I wanted to create a YouTube channel

I want to make a channel to share about my previous life in Taiwan—my travels, adventures, and even my time in prison. However, I’m not skilled at editing videos, and nowadays you have to pay for advanced AI features. I’m unsure whether this will be an interesting topic, so I’d like to start by collaborating with either Taiwanese or expat YouTubers.

Hey man good for you.

Just do it and learn as you go, you’ll find your way as you study the feedback loop

Expat YouTubers generally make videos about how DELICIOUS Taiwanese food is and what a HIDDEN GEM Taipei 101 is and TAIWANESE are actually the FRIENDLIEST HUMANS in the world. Maybe you can make a video praising the prisons here.

I’m not a fan of those youtubers since they’re just trying to profit from the audience. I have no intention of becoming another Guan Chang they only ever highlight the good aspects of Taiwan and completely ignore the bad. I much prefer creators like Laowhy and SerpentZA.

What editing do you need if you were to just be speaking to the camera?

If Paul Farrell can do it so can you.

This is obviously the Solution, as anything @ExpatDad and I agree on must be God’s own truth. :joy:

I use Gling.ai for editing using AI. I basically do my videos in 1 take rolling most of the time and the ai just edits the bad takes and silences for me.

Then any final touches on CapCut.

Idk about the topic being in demand. But you don’t need much skills to edit videos now. And many YouTube channels perform really well without high levels of production so it’s not necessary to make it look like it had a huge budget to get viewers.

I shoot it all on my iPhone 16 pro.

Maybe you can be different and try to just talk about your observations

Seriously I see so many channels about “my life in Taiwan” . I am tired of those. No one cares about someone else’s life.

I watch one Taiwanese youtuber called diarrhea Ritchie. (Thats literally his channel name).

Besides that i watch no Taiwan content.
