Road safety experts have condemned a driver who faked his own death to avoid paying £180 in speeding fines.
Shafkat Munir, 26, from Blackburn, Lancashire, produced a false death certificate to the authorities after speed cameras snapped him three times.
A high tech, theft-proof £75,000 police car was stolen in Berlin - after officers left it unlocked with the key in the ignition.
The special BMW, which features high-tech surveillance equipment and sophisticated electronic locks and immobilisers to make it theft proof, was the pride of the Berlin police force.
But it was stolen in the city’s Wedding district when two officers jumped out to chase a joy-rider on foot after he had abandoned a stolen car.
The criminal got away and when the officers went back they found the expensive BMW gone.
The pair are facing disciplinary action. Police chiefs say they have no leads on who may have stolen the car and are still looking for it.
Classic!
:bravo:
Minor case of idiotism, but a 2008 idiot all the same.
You decide to rob a convenience store and all you get away with is $2000? Then you try again, and get $2500?
Was it worth it dude? Welcome to jail.
Colombian nabbed after robbing 3 Taipei stores
Tuesday, March 4, 2008
CNA
TAIPEI, Taiwan – A Colombian man was arrested by Taiwan police yesterday after robbing three convenience stores in Taipei City.
The man was identified as 30-year-old Vasquez Lopez John Jaime, who had entered Taiwan with a visitor visa, police said.
Driving a rented silver Mitsubishi sedan and holding a knife, Lopez arrived at a convenience store located on the city’s Changan East Road around 1 a.m. and successfully made off with NT$2,000, police said.
According to police, he further robbed NT$2,500 from another convenience store on Chungshan North Road before reaching a third convenience store on Yenping North Road.
Fleeing the third store in panic after a customer called the police, Lopez was intercepted by police at section five of Yenping North Road, police said, adding that his car rammed into a pedestrian walkway on the ground floor of a roadside shophouse when he tried to run away. Lopez suffered severe bone fracture in his legs but is reported in stable condition, said police.
Please tell me he did it to be sent back for free. Or at least get free accomodation at Taoyuan’s foreigner baddies hotel.
Somebody sold him the wrong kind of weed.
Who rents a car to go on a robbing spree?! And then chooses such spree location DOWNTOWN?! When we all know traffic moves at snail’s pace…he was begging to get caught.
His camouflage plan was. let’s say, less than brilliant:
I’m surprised nobody has mentioned this story yet, it’s quite incredible. I read in one of the local rags that a Columbian guy got wasted, took a rental car and robbed a few convenience stores by knife point. He claims not to remember anything because he was so wasted, but he did have the foresight to stick a sanitary towel over his number plates before rampaging. The attached pic was of his car totalled and smeared with blood. The highlight of this story is a quote from his buddy who said something along the lines of ‘woah man, I swear he didn’t mean it, it’s this Taiwan beer, it does weird things to you’.

Anyone have any links to this story?
Sanitary towel? Is that like a tampon? He stuck a tampon over his license plates and his car was totalled and smeared with blood? I don’t get it. But you’re right, that’s really weird.

A “sanitary towel” is a pad. It’s tacky on the bottom to adhear to panties, or license plates, or Jr. High locker doors. A tampon is like a “push up” with a string for retrieval. Just so you know. And the irony of the bloody car is priceless.

taiwan beer consumed each month–over 30 million liters
number of people who rob convenience stores at knifepoint while wasted on taiwan beer, driving between them in a rental car and eventually crashing and breaking both legs–small
