Basically what AJ said in the linked thread.
Don’t read Forumosa or ignore threads with titles that look controversial. I’m lucky if I read 10 percent of the threads on this forum so that’s 90 percent of threads ignored.
Controversial is fine. Inane and repetitive skew the noise-to-signal ratio.
Couldn’t they be ignored using the same process of simply not reading them? It’s not that difficult to tell which is a rubbish thread by the thread title/thread starter/placement in the IP forum.

Absolutely matchstick, it’s not rocket science, is it?
Take the following examples of Titles and Thread Starters. Deciding whether to click is not that hard.

Oh God, I’m bored but not THAT bored.
Decent vegetarian places in Taipei near Tai-Da or City Hall? by catfish13
I don’t live in Taipei and I’m not a vegetarian. A no clicker.

Most likely leftie drivel - not clicking but might have a look if Chewy, Fred Smith or TC post.
And if you do click on something that is crap, it’s not like you’ve married the thread and spend the rest of your natural life with it.
It’s like using Google. The not (-topic n) filter eliminates a lot of unlooked for crap.
Sorry Jaboney, I don’t know what you mean. I’ve never used any advanced Google search functions.

For example:
Google Britney: get 79,900,000 hits
Google Britney -Spears: get 26,000,000 hits.
Not much of a refinement, but that one modifier eliminated 54 million pages of flotsam.
An Ignore Thread (maybe also Ignore Forum) function would offer user-customized versions of f.com. As it is, I believe non-registered users don’t have access to the Temp Forum. I can see how some German-speaking users may benefit from blocking all the English-language forums (or one day, Chinese-speakers?). I’m sure any number of posters would love it if the Politics Forums disappeared. Myself, I just want to ignore a few threads.
I use Firefox because it’s customizable and allows me to screen out useless distractions. I use Adblocker. I use Readability. All make for a better online experience. As would this.
Awfully picky, considering you scour the internet for information about Britney Spears!
Thanks. Got it now. “User-customized versions” sounds really interesting.
Protecting my image. Making sure those paparazzi keyhole pics from 8 or 9 years back haven’t turned up online.
