Import new smartphone - import duty - customs duties - tax

Hello,

I intend to buy a brand new smartphone from Gearbest or AliExpress, so it would be shipped from China to Taiwan with probably a chinese freight company such as SF EXPRESS.
Any idea if customs will require to pay some taxes and import duties? The mobile phone price is about 14000 TWD. I’ve heard that some people import smartphones (just one) that way without being requested to pay taxes and duties.

The phone is the realme x2 pro, I don’t think it’s possible to find it in Taiwan right now ?

At the very least 5% VAT on top of price plus shipping. Also, if the item has a wifi chip, you might need to provide additional documentation.

Courier may also refuse to carry it if it has a lithium battery,

I bought a Vernee Chinese phone from Amazon UK, no import TAX, this week I buy a camera from Amazon US and had to pay import Tax and had to verify ID to import.

Strange happenings.
