Yeah, wouldn’t you lose the severance pay if you actually resign?
Yes. You lose the severence pay when resigning.
But if @therainmaker has a job lined up, it’s not worth severence.
But @therainmaker should not be quitting until a new job is found or is bought out with severence…and maybe a bit more.
Gain:Yes. You are leaving anyway so why not use up all the leaves?
Some prefer the payout.
Edit: and some employers might prefer you take the payout, since they may need you to do your job during those days while they look for a replacement. Unless you’re burning that bridge completely and never asking them for a recommendation, you probably want to help them out.
This seems like a good way to test the company if they are actually busy and productive or not.
My manager quit. She had like twenty vacation days so she was basically gone the next day.
Where i grew up this was called F*ck you! Aka, burnt bridge. It says a lot about the health of their relationship.
If you time it right you can hand in your notice and then ride out your notice period through the Chinese New Year public holiday. Also, it’s better to be fired than quit since you’ll get severance pay, unless you want to use this job as a reference in the future.
