Independent taxers

Sorry if this has been covered, but I can’t find a simple answer. Can a teacher reject a companies automatic withholding of taxes and file taxes independently at the end of the year?

If so, is there a particular tax article that points to this subject?

Thanks in advance.

You’re seriously asking a company to “just trust you” to pay your taxes? Tee hee.

They are responsible for it if you clear off, aren’t they?

They are indeed. Its got bugger all to do with the government – they get their money come what may. If you don’t pay, they just come after your employer. Therefore your employer does the witholding. I suppose it could be possible to cut a deal with your employer whereby they trust you enough to actually pay your taxes. Good luck with that one!

Taiwan does not have the equivalent of the 1099 status.

The complete lack of business, and some would say personal, ethics here precludes that even being considered.
