Insurance claim process

Hi :waving_hand:
So my motorcycle was pushed over by a driver about 5 weeks ago. Since then, fubon insurance is handling my case.
After fubon opened a case, they asked me to get an repair estimate from Honda(the motorcycle is from Honda). I did get the estimate and then the insurance agent wanted to check the motorcycle. It’s been more than 3 weeks since the agent inspected the damages on the bike. And then no response or anything from them.
I called the agent twice but not much progress. I can’t speak Chinese so I have to get my colleagues to call for me.
The responses are pretty vague. Something like " all the items looks okay. You can go ahead and repair. Then negotiate and claim the amount" bla bla.
I have been asking to send me something written like an email or even sms that they agreed to the amount but nothing from them.
What to do?

Doesn’t sound like normal behaviour from an insurance company! Will your own insurance company get involved and help you out? It pays back a million times to have more than the statutory minimum insurance, hopefully you paid the extra!

Do you have a police report? Has responsibility for the repairs been confirmed?

Typically you bring your damaged vehicle to a repair shop, they contact the insurance company involved, rep views the vehicle and agrees the repairs with the repair shop. You pick up the vehicle, sign off that you’re happy with the repairs and that’s it.

Oh, and be careful to verify who you are taking to, call the insurance company yourself and the agents extension, if you can. I had an experience with an accident which was the other partys fault 100%, their insurance company rep would call me not stating their company name and quietly trying to pass themselves off as my insurance company, recommending cheaper repairs and repair shops etc.

My insurance company won’t help me in this case.
So this is what happened so far: the bike was parked in a designated parking spot while a driver pushed it and it fall over. The driver call the police and there is a police report. The driver has fubon insurance. After a few days, I got an sms from fubon insurance mentioned a case number. They told me to go to Honda to get an repair estimate and I did. I also shared the case number with Honda. Honda gave a list of items to repair and total costs. They sent this to the insurance agent too.
Then insurance agent wanted to inspect the bike. Finally about 3 weeks ago, the insurance agent checked the bike in Honda maintaince center.
Since then, I called twice (through my colleagues). During first call, the agent was on leave that day so another agent responded and said the items are good and I can start repair then negotiate and claim the amount. Seems very strange to me.
So I did another call after a week amd the insurance agent mentioned all the items are good and approved. I can repair it and pay by myself. Then I need to call him again with the receipt. After I will sign some paperwork and they will deposit the money to my account.
That’s it, no email/sms or anything written.
Is that normal process?

No.

Assuming you want to repair the bike, bring it to Honda and have them contact the insurance company, they should be very familiar with the process.

Sure. Thanks for the suggestions.
I will contact Honda to help me with this

Be prepared for the insurance to stall the payment to the shop. The shop can hold your vehicle until the repair bill is paid. The insurance might ‘extort’ you for lowering their payment by not paying the bill for a long time.

They know any legal action against them will cost you more.
