I recently was offered an internship at a company in Taiwan (I’ve been living here for a while on visa runs), but they weren’t sure if they were able to offer me an ARC because it is only for 6 months, and I don’t meet the experience requirements for foreign professional workers.
I have a friend that did an internship similar to mine on a visitor visa, with a letter of invitation from his company. Has anyone else done this?
I used a visitor visa when when I was studying chinese at Taida, with the “reason” for my visa as ‘studying chinese’. I assume that I’ll do the same thing but with the reason being “internship” with the accompanying document being my employment letter.
There is hardly any information online about this, anyone else have experience with this?
I thought I would reply and post some of the information I’ve learned for others in the future that might be trying to navigate the bureaucracy involved in Taiwan Visas.
Basically you company needs to apply for a “formal invitation letter” on your behalf, and you provide your passport and student documentation.
You can take that letter and possibly one from the company itself and apply for a visitor visa at TECO like your normally would, for internship, valid for 6 months and possibly* extendable beyond that. Yayyyy!
Your story sounds like mine, and it’s been few weeks that i’m applying for unsolicitated internships trying to convince companies that hiring a young graduated
foreigner is not that hard regarding to “normal” foreigners’ way.
I also called the national immigration center to confirm that i could be paid as much as taiwanese without the minimum salary of 47 000 or 37 000 NTD for foreigners in Taiwan. And they confirmed that i can be paid as much as i want.
So i would like to other foreigners who did internships in Taiwan ? Was it difficult to find some ?
I’m registered on 104, 1111 anf few other websites, but not so much results.
As far as i’m concerned, i’m a French, i’m doing an International Management French-Chinese Degree in a french university, to get my diploma, i need to make a 6 months internship in China, HK, or Taiwan and my Chinese language level is not professional yet.
