Sounds good.
But if Bush were playing that guitar during the disaster, then the title was snazzy and should have stuck.
I agree with the policy and with Jaboney in that case. Often a catchy title is what catches my interest. Imagine that!

I think that the title was “Bush fiddles while New Orleans drowns.”
It would be disingenuous to suggest that Bush Fiddles was and is the only IP title that needed or will need change.
IP should be for real discussion by people knowledgable and interested in politics, not hillbilly flame wars.
Well said, JD.
I’d also add that as between knowledgeable and interested, I’ll take “interested” every time. (And by “interested”, I mean interested in participating in substantive discussion and debates.)
I’m sure none of us, for example, would discourage someone from taking part, asking questions, giving opinions etc. just because that person wasn’t some kind of politics/policy wonk. Similarly, a person can be extremely well-informed on the issues, but if all that person wants to do is start fights and insult other posters, then very little value is added – regardless of how smart/knowledgeable such a person might be.
I thought this thread was going to be about a name change of the IP forum. Shouldn’t this thread really be titled IP subject heading announcement? Most thread starters have the freedom to change their headings.
I agree with what is being said but ironically this thread’s title is misleading.
New Posters and maybe people just unfamiliar with the site would. All the people who have posted on this thread so far are established posters with more than 100 posts. Established posters tend to click on New Posts however newer posters don’t. Many established posters on message boards tend to forget there are new posters who aren’t familiar with message board procedure etc.
Maybe a beginner’s guide to the IP forum could be a good idea.
Sounds very “PC” that we now have to watch out for the feewings of the widdle neocons and cannot use a common expression to describe a president who’s strapping on photo-op hardware while a major disaster were underway. Yes, it was a technically a guitar and not one of those high-falutin’ violins so indicative of the Eastern Establishment elites … thus perhaps an acceptable neutral alternative should have been to change the thread title to “Bush strums while New Orleans drowns”.
Technically speaking, Nero probably wasn’t playing a violin while Rome burned … but perhaps our Caligula-quoting friends will also step forward and demand that record be set straight as well.

It looked to me like he was fiddling with the guitar…
