This is a product a few of my close classmates are releasing soon. You take a video with your iPhone, it 3D scans the object.
The applications could be anything from scene re-creation to replicating hard to find parts to fashion. Eg: have someone 3D scan you with your phone and have an insta-virtual fitting room. Really excited for them.
Put this together with a decent CAD program and CNC / Rapid Prototyping Machine = customization galore.
