They dont really have a choice. Most people there are overweight anyways. Trying to get with one normal shaped person is like finding a unicorn XD^^

A lot of overweight people everywhere. If you mean obese to very obese that’s different.
Taiwanese are in general more biased towards picking a partner based on looks primarily and by looks I mean body shape. Maybe I should say all east Asians not just taiwanese.
Anyways. It mostly stem from the ideology here that how you are perceived by society is based on appearance on things (and partner) u have in your life. If your partner is slim (beautiful by asian standard) then it shows u made it in life otherwise people feel u are not good enough to find an attractive partner so u settled which makes u a loser

Oh yes i forgot to add money since i was talking about what men look for which is primarily looks. they dont mind marrying a broke girl as long as she has bamboo legs and dress like a barbie. For women here ofcourse money comes first
