Seems like a lot of websites state once you apply for TW citizenship, you can’t leave the country for a year. Is this accurate or am I misinterpreting?
For example, “You will first apply for a Taiwan Area Residence Certificate (TARC) that functions similar to an ARC and then live in Taiwan for an additional one year, without departure”
It’s nonsense. There has never been any rule preventing a naturalized person with a TARC from traveling. People who claim this are talking out of their arse. Also this has been covered in this and many other threads.
Traveling only affects the time it takes to get HHR and ID card.
That is not what the OP is asking. He is asking is it true one cannot travel at all for one year not how long it takes to get HHR and ID Card.
A Forumosa member who never naturalized has been spewing this nonsense all around the place for many years. When called out its always a “misunderstanding” Right.
I flagged the posts and was basically told to get lost
Your second trip since naturalized and got TARC? Two months ago you naturalized and got you TARC and NWOHR passport?
@comfy123@justintaiwan have both naturalized recently and traveled on their NWOHR passports and TARC.
Even 25 years ago when I naturalized the MOI notified people if they wanted to travel what the rules were for getting HHR and ID card. No restrictions on travel have ever been in place. However there are many people who have no clue spouting of their nonsense that you cannot travel on NWOHR and TARC.
Recently on an FB group a Canadian chap that says he has lived in Taiwan for over 3 decades wrote that no white person would be allowed to naturalize as we are not “Chinese”
@comfy123@justintaiwan myself and many other white people who have naturalized had to educate him.
I only naturalized after talking to @anon24369109. Why? Because there is so much BS being spread everywhere.
Quite frankly weak Americans will hate us Aussies when we post… but one thing is we speak only the truth and don’t BS.
Sometimes you have to wonder what’s worse? Talk BS in a “nice tone” or talk the truth in what is really a frank true blue tone.
Americans and Canadians will also lie to you in a nice tone. Aussies will tell you the truth in a way that makes Americans and Canadians cry and get all spastic.
