Is the China baseball team sponsored by The China Post?

I’m curious, after noticing the Chinese baseball teams uniform, whether or not they ripped off the masthead font of The China Post.

Or is it just a coincidence?

Its two different fonts, most notably on the serifs. Probably just a B grade Fake

You say different font: the serifs.

I notice the “h” has been adjusted at the bottom. Other than that, what’s different?

Let’s play Spot the Difference…

No because if they were, half the team would be women.

What’s this talk of copying fonts. Aren’t “Mast Heads” of News papers made of Standard Fonts? Couldn’t anyone just buy and use that font for their work?
Or, is there now a whole world of special font artists and editors all trying to design, copy right and trademark that special version of old English font to give their publication that special look? Next thing, I bet you’ll tell me that people have been sued for having used fonts that appear to similar Finn the title of their magazine, newspaper or t-shirt.

“ sorry this has become a long post”

Some newspapers use open or generic fonts, others use licenced or a custom font. If they are sensible they will have it copyrighted as this is their logo, if they use a open font anyone can copy there brand identity.

Yes people do design fonts, and they hold the IP, how they choose to distribute it is up to them.

You be surprised how many companies have their own version of a popular font just do they can hold the licence, for example Apple dropped Helvetica Neue to use its own font “San Francisco”.

And try using the Spencerian Script on your carbonated soft drink without getting a licence and see what Coca Cola has to say.

Im not some sort of specialist in the laws around this but I have to deal with fonts and usage/ licences as part of my job, and it’s an absolute pain when a company has there own font, then they want some copy changing in their artwork.

Some companies have us sign none distribution agreements before we can install them. I suppose it’s like any other artworks if you have invested in it you don’t want to give it away for free.
