If you live in Taipei City, there are free practice areas. However, they can get crowded.
Now it is summer and the kids like to take driving lessons to do some tourism. The result is crowded practice venues and not many slots for tests. Solution: go outside of Taipei to take the test. Or wait until autumn.
I do not have much time available so I booked a school through Ador-Biker and they provided practice booklet in English, booked the venue, transportation to test site, the works. That is one option to consider.
