Is there a special salary for foreigners working in taiwan?

Hi guys,

I was just hired by a big company in Taiwan. However, when they gave me the salary package review it was a bit lower than expected. I hold a M.A. and speak English, Chinese and my native language, Spanish.

I heard from some friends that according to Taiwanese Labour laws a foreigner working full time in Taiwan should earn something higher than NTD$47,000 a month. Is that right? I want to make sure because this company is paying me not bad (6,000 less) since it is my first real job in Taiwan and I recently graduated from a Graduate School here. But what does the law says? Is there a certain amount that a foreigner should receive monthly?

Please, help me and let me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance!

I think the law was revised recently or is in the process of revision. So the 47k per month was right before, but something may have changed recently, as they are trying to get more foreign graduates to stay in Taiwan after their studies.

Yep, it was. For further info, see here:

So, if you graduated from a local university, the minimum or least amount you can take would then be NT$37,619, not the 40 plus number.
