The very closest Jap. island to Taiwan is Yonaguni Jima. It is 45 miles straight east. The second closest island is Ishigaki. Ishigaki and the ones around it are called ‘Yaeyama’ and they look a lot like Green Island. FUN FACT: These islands were annexed at the same time that Taiwan was annexed by Japan, not in the 1870s like the rest of Okinawa.
I’m going to Miyako on the 26th (ish, weather permitting) and returning overnight on the 29th/30th. Sailing, yeah!! Will try and remember to take a camera and post some pics.
Too lazy to search the archives… Does anyone know if I can get a 30 landing visa (or whtever it’s called these days) if I go on the cruise and end up back in Keelung?
