JFRV based ARC still valid if spouse's HHR expires

Say one is married with a JFRV based ARC valid for 3 years. They and their wife/husband are outside of Taiwan for 2+ years, but less than 3 years. Will the ARC of the foreign resident be affected by the spouse being removed from their HHR?

I don’t know, but the answer will lie in whether spouse ARC requires the Taiwanese spouse to have an ‘active’ household registration, or whether they just need to have household registration full stop. My guess is that your ARC won’t be cancelled but you may encounter issues when you try to renew. Do not take anyone’s word for anything tho, call the NIA.

I know foreigners whose ARCs weren’t cancelled even when they got divorced (they just couldn’t renew), so I don’t think there is much communication between HHROs and the NIA.
