Job Options in Taiwan for Someone without a BA

Regarding the second work permit from MOE:

My boss called the MOE for me today, and they referred her to the CLA, who told her that I was OK. But my boss only told the MOE person that I had an APRC, not that I had an open work permit.

So I called the MOE myself, and with lots of help from the secretary at my cram school, I got patched through to someone who could explain things to me in English. This MOE person also mentioned the CLA, and it took a little while for me to explain things to her (I may have needed help again from Chinese speakers here at my cram school). Then the MOE lady put me on hold and talked to someone, then got back with me and told me that the work permit was not the MOE’s responsibility, and that I should call Taipei County Government (I guess because I work in Taipei County).

So I called Taipei County Government (mainly because the MOE person said to), and after a while was patched through to someone with good English, and I explained things to her, emphasizing that I wanted to know about whether I needed a second work permit in addition to my open work permit. The Taipei County Government person put me on hold and apparently contacted someone at MOE, who apparently told the Taipei County person to tell me I should call CLA. But regardless of whom the Taipei County Government person talked to, in essence Taipei County told me I should contact CLA.

Again, I’m not saying that there’s no requirement of a separate MOE work permit. All I’m saying is that if there is, I seem to have been unable to find out about it so far. In the words of Menno, I dunno, I jest dunno. And there the matter stands (at least in relation to me) at this time.
