Kabsa Spice Mix

I am making Saudi kabsa. I need to buy kabsa spice mix.

Ingredients:
Coriander seeds
Cumin seeds
Black peppercorns
Fennel Seeds
Cloves
Cinnamon
Black Cardamom
Green Cardamom
Black Lime (dried)
White pepper powder
Paprika
Black Stone Powder
Ground Ginger
Turmeric Powder

never saw it in Taiwan, you will have to buy the spices seperate and mix your own.

All of these can be found at Trinity Indian store?

Most of them definitely yes. I’m not sure about dried black lime, and black stone powder will probably be an issue in Taiwan (I’d never heard of that actually - needed to Google it). Maybe you’ll need to skip that or check if it can be substituted.

You could also check the Trinity website or possibly contact them.

I will make a visit and ask the staff in person.

There’s also a couple of kabsa spice mixes on Shopee - no idea of the flavor/quality.

What other Indian supermarkets in Taipei would you recommend?

I wouldn’t. I haven’t been to any besides Trinity. There are a couple more on Google Maps, but I don’t know anything about them.

Trinity is my starting point

This place. Seems like they have a new location

Have you asked the Saudi guy in Yonghe?

I’ve had that site open as one of my 30-ish ā€œthis’ll come in useful one day so don’t close itā€ tabs for at least several months now but never got around to going. It’s just between the growing chia microgreens and chicken parmesan recipe tabs.

Is it any good?

Who?

The Saudi guy in Yonghe

I don’t know him

Oh, ok

Should people know him? Is he famous…? I thought it was a vague description too!

My uni in KSA had a great kabsa place just outside the main gate, never got bored of that delicious chicken (but our faculty cafeteria was pretty good, too)!

I was at the former store near TTV building before. Smaller than Trinity but they had quite a lot.

Well, he’s THE Saudi guy in Yonghe. But it seems at least two people don’t know him.

@therainmaker You know him, right? He’s also a regular in Wanhua.
