Kaohsiung unsafe?

Twenty-five people were detained by police after a pet supplies store was vandalized, leading to street brawls

Over the past few months, violent incidents have continued to take place in the city and if public safety is not “sorted out,” it could become cause for concern

Some of the suspects involved in the case are thought to be affiliated with organized crime gangs, Huang said before the meeting.
Some had allegedly traveled from other cities and counties to participate in the violence, he said.

If Kaohsiung is really proven to be any more dangerous relative to anywhere else on the island it’s gotta be cuz it’s too gotdamn hot.

Since there might be a link between blood lead levels and violent crime, maybe there is also one between Kaohsiung’s pollution and local crime?

Scientifically possible!

Or boring

Just wait until the love ferris wheel is finished. The resulting excitement and rise in birth rate should make Kaohsiung great again.

Obviously, this being the only thing in the world that keeps me going from day to day…

Emerging studies show that air pollution is linked to impaired judgement, mental health problems, poorer performance in school and most worryingly perhaps, higher levels of crime.

Sad to hear.

Do you guys wear a kou jao when simply hanging around (other than driving the scooter)?

Kaohsiung has always been a very violent place (for Taiwan that is). The last couple decades have simply pusbed it into less publicly seen violence. The south is unique. I agree with above…the heat, lack of O2 and various kinds of environemtanl poisoning are likely a good cause. Perhaps slightly cause the official there are also dirty rat bastards…but thats old news.

As long as you steer clear of gangsters here (and the shady nightclubs, teahouses or 24 hour “barber shops” they run), it’s as safe as can be.

It’s just an anti-Han article from the long-lasting DPP favoring English rag. It’s nothing no one knows. It wouldn’t be published if the mayor wasn’t running for president, or wasn’t blue.
