Can anyone tell me the best way to get from Kending (or Hengchuen) to Taitung?
Is there a bus, or is the only way to backtrack to Fangshan and get on the train there?

U can get a bus (Chong Nan and there are a few other companies that I can’t think of right now) from Kending to Fong Gang. At Fong Gang, get off and ask where you wait for the bus that will take you all the way to Taitung. Alternatively you could get the bus all the way to Fangliao, then get a train to Taitung.
