Kerry honored at communist museum

A Ho Chi Minh City museum that honors Vietnam war protesters features a photograph of Sen. John Kerry being greeted by the general secretary of the Communist Party, Comrade Do Muoi.

A snapshot of the display in the Vietnamese Communist War Remnants Museum

why don’t you show us where it was debunked? it’s weird how you’re so wound up over this. i mean, i don’t like kerry and all, but i have to agree with butcher boy on this one. who the hell cares about a stupid picture of kerry with some vietnamese officials? it’s a snapshot taken in 1993. do you realize how many leaders, both republican and democrat, have had their pictures taken with vietnamese officials since relations were normalized?

maybe it’s not being reported in the media because nobody gives a shit about a picture taken of kerry in 1993 when he was on some junket to vietnam?

[quote=“lane119”]bleuface, can you now verify this again or take it off the thread? Thanks.

I suggest you read Hhan Dan (the official newspaper of the Vietnamese Communist Party) and Viet Nam News (published by the official Vietnamese News Service). You’ll find Comrade Kerry is very highly regarded in Hanoi.

I noticed no one’s responded to Spook’s post showing Kerry’s rather strong showing doing his service in the Vietnam War.

I think the fact that Kerry came out against the war later on is completely honorable. In fact, those who actually experienced it had the most right to be publicly opposed to it. I don’t blame those who didn’t go for protesting against the war, either. I certainly don’t blame conscientious objectors, 'cause I probably would’ve been one too.

The one’s I DO blame are the fucking hypocritical hawks who were all for the mayhem as long as they didn’t have to carry a rifle and walk through a rice paddy themselves. That list would include Cheney, Bush, Limbaugh, Buchanan, Rove…the list goes on.

If the VC’s give credit to protest activities in the US for helping them, well, that’s the VC. How much credence do you give their propoganda museum? Go read A Bright and Shining Lie and then tell me it was the protestors and the liberal media that lost us the war. I suppose you guys think we should go back and do it over, now that we have such an unstoppable military machine. Anyway it won’t be you guys going, and it won’t be your houses getting naped…

A popular bar had a new robotic bartender installed.

A fellow came in for a drink and the robot asked him, “What’s your IQ?”
The man replied, “130.”
So the robot proceeded to make conversation about physics, astronomy,
investments, insurance, and so on.
The man listened intently and thought, “This is really great.”

Another gent came in for a drink and the robot asked him, “What’s your
IQ?”
The man responded, “100.”
So the robot started talking about football, baseball, and so on.
The man thought to himself, “Wow, this is really great.”

A third guy came in to the bar. As with the others, the robot asked him,
“What’s your IQ?” The man replied, “70.”
The robot then said, “So, are you Democrats really going to nominate
John Kerry?”

are you trying to say that the us lost the war because of military defeats? you do realize that by his death in 1972, john paul vann was under the firm belief that the us and south vietnamese forces were winning the war on the military front, right?

Excuse me while I barf.

"In his book “Stolen Valor,” B.G. Burkett points out that Mr. Kerry liberally used phony veterans to testify to atrocities they could not possibly have committed. Mr. Kerry later threw what he represented as his awards at the Capitol in protest. But as the war diminished as a political issue, he left the VVAW, which was a bit too radical for his political future, and was ultimately elected to the Senate. After his awards were seen framed on his office wall, he claimed to have thrown away someone else’s medals–so now he can reclaim his gallantry in Vietnam.

Mr. Kerry hasn’t given me any reason to trust his judgment. As co-chairman of the Senate investigating committee, he quashed a revealing inquiry into the POW/MIA issue, and he supports trade initiatives with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam while blocking any legislation requiring Hanoi to adhere to basic human rights. I’m not surprised that there are veterans who support a VVAW activist, if only because there are so few fellow veterans in politics. Ideally, there’d be many more. If you are going to vote on military appropriations, it would be nice if you didn’t disrespect the soldiers. Congress hasn’t had the courage to declare war in more than 60 years, despite numerous instances in which we have sent our military in harm’s way. Of all the “lessons of Vietnam,” surely one is that America needs a leader capable of demonstrating in himself, and encouraging in others, the resolve to finish what they have collectively started." - Stephen Sherman (Monday, January 26, 2004 12:01 a.m. EST)

Mr. Sherman was a first lieutenant with the U.S. Army Fifth Special Forces Group (Airborne) in Vietnam, 1967-68.
