Maybe Gates is different but it also matters more where that money is going, not how much money is being given. Is that money fostering political interference or is it building infrastructure or funding startups?
The DRC has had rulers who steal from it since that Belgian guy who cut everyone’s hands off. It’s the only government the people are used to. Chucking such governments money cannot happen for altruistic reasons. Western governments are giving the Congo foreign aid solely for their own advantage. They know the money will get stolen.
IMHO giving it to continue to sow discord because it’s easier to allow them to be disfunctional than to become a prime player on the world stage. And for some countries who have racist histories, like the US who also have a history of just stealing stuff for their own personal gain, this one of many ways along the cheap manufacturing pipeline.
Who’s really speaking out in the UN about the abuses going on in the Congo other countries that feed the capitalistic beast?

How do we even know Gates is funnelling money for good? I haven’t seen any real reporting from or about Africa that makes his involvement with his foundation transparent.
The suspicious side in me thinks his foundation and all these inoculation are not on the up and up.
I don’t consider capitalism to be a beast. The capitalist countries in Africa have generally done a lot better than the Marxist countries. Zimbabwe is the classic example, but I’m sure I could wiki a lot more.
Then what is the beast driving it all? Can’t be pure racism. Has to be room for captialism as well.
He might be a sociopath who wants to do harm, or make even more money. A Dr. Evil type.
However, if I were to bet it would be on a nerd who isn’t great at communicating but wants to make a positive difference.

All of these protests and riots wouldn’t be tolerated in either of those societies. Citizens would be killed in mass in both Nazi Germany and the CCP by now. But please keep telling yourself they are relatable.
