I think any kind of english teaching period in a kindy is illegal, no matter what.
My understanding is that you can teach English legally in a kindergarten if:
(edit: ALL THREE of the above conditions must be met in order for it to be legal–regardless of what HESS says.)
But, I’m not a lawyer. Do a search in the Legal Forum.
Apparently it’s only legal if you work for Hess.
Is it legal for me to teach my child English?
I don’t think this is true AFAIK.
It’s illegal, but you don’t have to worry about anything if you have a JVRC (whatever :P.) The school might get in trouble (if that) but you won’t.
So, if I understand you corectly, the JFRV ARC wields some sort of super shield power allowing the holder to do things that would otherwise be deemed illegal, and then get away with it - deflecting the blame, fault, and consequences to fall on the school?
Hmmmm, if this is true…then if I work at a kindie, police raid the place, because I hold this magical JFRV ARC nothing can happen to me? Sounds too good to be true. Is it for real?
I asked the lady at FAP when I got the JFRV ARC what kind of work I can do…her response (verbatim): “You can do anything you want.”
Perhaps I should get that in writing ![]()
You can do anything you want until someone says otherwise?
Id like to know more about what happens to someone with a JFRV who gets caught teaching kindy also.
Yes, I know it’s naughty teaching kindy. Does anyone know or possibly has heard what happens to JFRV people if they are caught teaching kindy? I suspect they probably wouldn’t deport you on your first offense, but I am more interested in knowing if they would slap you with a heavy fine that would put me in a financial hole worse than I already am. I really do hate doing anything illegal, but I am starting to think that kindy is about the easiest way to survive and save money, instead of just living from month to month.

creztor, this is Taiwan. Laws and rules don’t mean much in everyday life.
Want to be safe? You and the tai tai should get to know the FAP officers in your area. Ask them out for coffee or tea. Offer to help them with their English. Volunteer to help them translate in future cases that they may have.
After you build some guanxi with them, pop the question to them. Might as well get the answer strait from the horse’s mouth.
JFRV is different than regular ARC in the eyes of the police.
More than likely you will not be hassled.
I don’t teach, but I have been caught running a BBQ off of the back of a blue truck, my fine, same as all of the other ileagle blue truck vendors. They told me to move down the road, the same as the locals.
Later I asked the FAP guy’s that we know if I could be deported for this and they said not if your married. We treat you the same as locals.
However, don’t piss off the FAP’s with your knowledge of the law, this could really backfire on you.
Try and keep up a good relationship with them.
Thanks for all the info guys. Greatly appreciated. Will keep it all in mind when I am spanking the little ones at 9am
