Language Exchange ads - if not here, where?

Hello, I read the following advice in “PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING IN ‘LEARNING CHINESE’”:

May I ask, what is meant by “the ‘Taiwanted’ section”? I cannot find a section in Forumosa by this name. Unless I’m missing something, it appears to be an error in the “PLEASE READ” post.

I’m aware that there’s a separate website called Taiwanted (dot com), and it has a Language Exchange section, but when I click on that section, it shows no ads at all (I mean zero… no personals either, and the teaching job ads are stale, meaning only 5 that are less than a month old).

I also see that Forumosa has a Language Exchange section under Forumosafieds, but it appears that there has been less than one ad per week since June.

I looked at some other websites, Taiwanease just hyperlinks me to Taiwanted, and Taiwandeal seems to get fewer than one LE ad per month.

I tried to post on Tealit, multiple times, and for some mysterious reason they won’t approve my ad. I tried to ask the admin why, and they didn’t respond. But Tealit seems to be the only site with a large volume of LE ads (perhaps it’s more well-known among locals than Forumosa? Just guessing).

What I’m hoping to find is a site that’s (1) free, (2) popular among locals for LE, and (3) allows me to post. Apparently, that includes none of the sites mentioned above. Oh, and if I get more than 3 wishes, the 4th would be that it’s well-trafficked by locals over 30!

Please forgive my ignorance as I’m a newbie. Thanks in advance for your patience and suggestions.

Well, on the other hand, LC is mostly people who are, um, learning Chinese, not so many locals who might be looking for a language exchange.

I’ll ask the admins about this. Back in the day, when those rules were written (and thanks for reading them first! ) this site was aggressively promoting a classifieds section. I’m not sure what the exact policy is right now. If things have changed somewhat, perhaps we might make a sub-forum for LE ads – though the same problem of traffic being mostly people learning Chinese would exist.

You need to download something called PCMan Novus. That will log you in to PTT.cc easily.

There are tons of people who are looking for language exchange partners there.

The catch here is that you’ll have to read enough Chinese to navigate the site well…and to register a username…

I occasionally see people on Forumosa Friends and OKCupid who are looking for LE partners, but I stopped using those sites here because of it.
