Letter from school going to make me LESS likely to get visa?

So I found a school that wants to give me an ARC, but since i’m here on visa-exempt entry they can’t even begin the paperwork to send me to Macau with to help my approval. As such, they wrote me a letter declaring their intention to start the ARC process when I return, and told me to take that to the VISA office in hopes it would make approval more likely. I’m not so sure this is a good idea, though, since i’m not supposed to look for work on a tourist visa? Should I just go and act like a normal tourist and not bring this letter?

I would hold it in reserve. If they reject your application for a normal tourist visa for any reason, try it then. I wouldn’t show your cards until you have to.
