Life after deportation

Hello

I am looking to meet foreigners that have been deported from Taiwan, what are they are doing now? Are they starting a new life in other Asian countries or have they ever travelled back to Taiwan? If you share such an experience please contact me. Are there are online groups out there for Taiwan deportees?

Thank you for your attention

Time to move on, man. There’s a couple hundred countries out there. Just try another one and try not to get banned this time.

An incident like this would have to be widespread enough for the possibility of groups

There have been a few over the years: probably primarily South East Asians overstaying their visas, but also a Spanish guy who got in trouble with his car rental business back home, who then ran some restaurants here, and didn’t Taiwan tattoo guy get deported too? Not sure if there is a Facebook group for deportees, though.

I knew some people that returned to Taiwan a few years after changing their names. That was back in the 90s though (one is still in Taiwan and on here). Would not get away with that now what with the biometric industrial complex taking over the planet.

Outcomes vary a lot because deportation reasons matter. Some people move on to places like Vietnam, Thailand, or Japan where visas are easier, others return to their home country and rebuild there. Re entry to Taiwan is usually restricted for several years or permanently, depending on the case, so going back is not common. There are no well known public groups specifically for Taiwan deportees, but some private Facebook and Telegram expat groups discuss this quietly. Immigration lawyers or NGOs sometimes know informal networks better than forums.

You can try to track down this guy. He’s been deported 4 times and he keeps coming back. Last post is from 2018 so I don’t know what he’s up to now.

Wow taiwan, the white persons land of th3 free….

About time to start Deportees Anonymous with 12-steps program to a new life.

Deportees Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and tracking numbers with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others recover from “Sudden Relocation Syndrome.” The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop refreshing the visa application page.

I know of a couple of people in recent years that were not deported in the sense of being marched to the airport in cuffs, but had to leave and given a ban.
One was for a year. He went to HK, returned, got married and found a corporate job and did very well. The other went to Vietnam for three years, returned, got married and is working again. They knew their spouses before leaving.

I clicked the link and read some of his posts and honestly his persona is exactly what I’d expect from someone who has been deported multiple times. The irony of him calling anyone else an “idiot”… at least they didn’t get kicked out of a country.

Multiple passports still by pass a lot of these issues but slowly digitization is making these loopholes harder.

I don’t know if that works as they already took my photo and prints at immigration office before I was being deported.

About the Spanish guy mentioned earlier, he is probably in prison now in Spain as there was an interpol red notice on him, he was eventually deported back to his country where he was taken into custody. But that’s a totally different story.

I love my post on that thread at the very end. Am I not a compassionate person? That dude is a legend for Canadiana. The airport runner. We mock him but to me, he represents the CLIT (Canadian Living in Taiwan).

I still think such determination to return again and again makes him an excellent example of Western North American yeoman traits transplanted into Asia. :joy::joy::joy: In other words, he shows more resourcefulness than your typical Yankee or Canucky. Yes, a perfect example of Frederick Jackson Turner`s frontier thesis in contemporary expat culture. This CKS runner shows the self-reliance, individualism, inventiveness, restless energy, mobility, materialism, and optimism by coming back yet again! But instead of the Wild West, he is showing these traits in Taiwan. Very interesting.CKS airport runner - Discussion / Open Forum - Forumosa

Taiwan keeps giving awards to missionaries. Shouldn’t diversity win here? To recognise or at least unban the clowns or runners? They have contributed to my entertainment 100X

Couldn’t agree more. Awards and citizenship for clowns is a no-brainer!

You could connect with the Taiwan tattoo guy. I don’t know where he is but he did try china but got scared into self deporting.

I know someone who may get deported, or will self deport once the court hands down a sentence.

What keep them coming back?

The search

No one in their right mind would do that.

Well Taiwan’s immigration law is really lax and it’s a huge bar to get deported from Taiwan, so those who did are likely not someone you’d want to cross paths with.

It’s mostly drunkards and such who do stupid things from drinking.
