All the posts on this topic are quite old, and aren’t really very useful.
For those of you who have life insurance:
How was the whole sign up experience?
How does the life insurance system work in Taiwan?
I am personally interested in paying $5000 or less each month, and having my wife get a small payout in the unlikely even of my death, just enough to make sure she can get back on her feet and pay bills.
I looked into it and the payout for early death was so small to make it not worth bothering with. Now we just save and invest. If my wife survives me she’ll get that.
Thinking about it a bit more you can buy life insurance for a fixed period. So, in my case I was looking at getting a death payout up to my kid hitting 18. My thinking process was that my family wouldn’t need the money after that.
A friend of mine told me that 2 million is the max payout for foreigners, as there were cases in the past of Taiwanese bringing over South East Asian brides and killing them for the insurance payout.
Don’t know how true that is, so would be nice if someone could confirm.
2 million is fine for what I need though, I’m just looking to make sure I don’t leave behind a mess.
I would be curious to know how much you need to pay in per month to get that 2 million NT payout.
You don’t have to pay, say, 400 months. You can fix it for a shorter period. It’s all about odds of dying. Is there an actuary in the house?
My wife has told me that the deal I was considering was around 5000NT a month for 18 years and a 2 million NT jackpot (for her) if I keeled over before then.
I’m actually studying to get my license in Taiwan for life and property insurance. I figure there is quite a few foreigners that want an easy way to get life insurance and easily explained but I doubt I can quit my day job , more like a side business.
My personal life insurance is foreign based so I don’t know Taiwan sign up process, yet that is… will know in a few months.
last time i checked, not possible on ARC, only with APRC.
Depending where you are from, TW insurance policies are not so good. premiums are high, and coverage is low. if you can insure yourself in your home country you might get a better deal.
