It kinda varies but sometimes they are fine, othertimes the AC is weak.
R27 that takes you to the university, the electric bus has VERY weak AC, I don’t know if it’s because they are afraid of losing range. I don’t see any charger at the depot that they park the bus in, so they might have no way to charge while in service, I don’t know.
The tram has very strong AC. Sometimes I’ll take them if it’s late at night because the tram service is much more stable than the bus.
If you want to talk about the buses, there’s a thread for that.

Probably to allow the trains to be aligned at CKS Mem Hall Stn rather than perpendicular to each other - making cross platform interchanges much easier. A great idea really.
Yes they were trying to avoid repeating the Taipei Main Station perpendicular transfer experience.
This looping route however does slow down travel times on the Red Line. I understand it’s a trade off but I do wish they could find a way to reduce the screeching on that stretch of the route.

I guess it’s this thing:
The page linked above contains this YouTube video, which I think might help:
Sounds like something I need for moving heavier equipment up those gongyu stairs
I didn’t realize they have something this advanced. But presumably this could be useful equipments for gongyu to allow wheelchair users to get up the stairs, or old people who can’t climb stairs.
Yeah, that video does a pretty good job of showing it off. To me, it’s impressive.
I don’t really see why they need them on the mrt though, considering they all have elevators. I’m guessing it’s for emergencies or when elevators are not available?
Yeah, I guess so. I never gave them much thought until today. Maybe I’ll get to see one (or more) of them in operation in an MRT station one of these days.
I think the government could have one for every gongyu? It would be really helpful in allowing older folks to live there.
On another note the mrt station and trains seems to be getting hotter. Same with buses, especially electric buses. Gets to the point where it’s hot and stinky on the bus or mrt.
What’s going on? Used to be before 2010 getting into an mrt station it was quite cool. Are they running out of money?
I don’t know. I haven’t been paying attention to that. Maybe I’ll start.
Announcements on Friday night at Xi Men Ding MRT. ‘It’s raining outside. Please feel free to borrow a courtesy umbrella. The surface at the exits may be slippery. Please don’t linger by the exits’. I’ve never heard these announcements before.
Seen one used in an MRT station, I would not like to be on it! Very scary looking on a long escalator.
I do wonder if wet conditions could cause it to slip, and how does the machine cope with this. I mean we hope the belt geometry makes slippage impossible, but belts do break, and it would not be approved for carrying people if it doesn’t have safeties to deal with this.
Like elevators, the only reason people are allowed to ride in them because of the braking system, which Samuel Otis demonstrated by him sitting in the elevator and having someone cut the cable.
Mythbusters had to extensive modify an elevator to allow it to drop free at all.
This will kill the RainGo business!
Actually the danhai lrt seems to have very strong ac.
