No because they are just sleeping or playing with their phone. They don’t see the badge. Need to ask everytime and it gets old.

I think sometimes they do that in the priority seats to pretend they do not see. I would wake them up , but not by touching. Your wife has the priority in this situation. You could also ask some amah to help you get
them the F up.
Regarding in-town check-in. Was searching on the airline website it just says at least 3 hrs prior flight. If I didn’t find this thread I would have thought I could check it as early as 6 hrs before my flight.
3 hrs rule seems odd. I think I need to plan my trip differently.
Six hours is at least three hours, isn’t it? “At least” means minimum.
My guess for the 3 hour rule is for cost savings. I have shown up a to the airport a few times where there was no staff at the counters for check in until 3 hours before the flight.
I just ask if you can let her sit. You can say no, I need this seat. It’s fine. There’s three other young people seating in those seats anyways.

Airport check-in is AT MOST (maximum) 3 hours prior to the flight. @thpsycho was talking about checking in at the airport express train in the city, and being asked to arrive AT LEAST (minimum) 3 hours prior.
By the way I looked at the schedules for the danhai tram. The service frequency is really crap. I mean most the day they have 3 trains an hour, and a 4th one at rush hour. If I wanted to get to fishermen’s wharf or that carrefour hypermarket, I’m better off taking the bus which has much higher frequency.
Given the cost to build the tram way, why is the service so slow? It felt like a huge waste of money.
[Regarding the Taoyuan MRT’s Terminus Station:] Taipei Main (what a crap name - should be something like Taipei Main West to let people know it is not Taipei Main
This is actually an excellent idea—simple, clean, and clear.

?
Well, rather than three per hour, I’d say more like six per hour, up to nine per hour at rush hour. Do all of those go to Fisherman’s Wharf, no, but I believe they all go past the Carrefour.

hear hear, very deceitful indeed.
these complaints I’m reading here about MRT riders in Taipei [and environs]
I’ve noticed that after COVID the youth (OK let’s be clear: the boys) are at times bitchier and are more likely to sprawl out on the boai seats playing their video games. Of course no one calls them out.
The rude old people (including the lovely lady who shouted angrily into her phone in mainland accented Mandarin for over fifteen minutes yesterday on the Red Line) remain roughly the same. I don’t think these people can really be trained, although I hope they can adjust their styles a bit.

Interesting. They were little kids before COVID, and probably never took the MRT until now. Someone needs to show them how it’s done.

Ah, I haven’t heard that accent in many years, with the current travel restrictions placed on Chinese people. Can’t say that I miss it.
Can’t say that I miss it.
you are not alone in this
Ok I didn’t know that. I saw the station at fisherman’s wharf and assumed the schedule is crap.
Red 26 runs every 5 minutes though.
It’s called Taipei main because it connects to the train station, which used to be above ground. When my parents took me to the states back in the 80s they were under construction, there was no mrt back then.
I’m not sure what happened to the old above ground station, I seen it used as a bus terminal for guokuang.

Huh? Is there a Taiwan East train station?
Huh? Is there a Taiwan East train station?
Why do you need one of those in order to have a West station, as long as you have Taipei Main you can call the other Taipei Main West to make sure they are not confused.
However, there did use to be 3 bus stations close to Taipei Main Station, they were all to the West of TPE Main and they were called Taipei West, Taipei East and Taipei North if I remember correctly. Taipei W and E were next to each other, one was a big station and the other was much smaller perhaps holding 6 bus stops and served mainly the CKS airport (as it was at the time).
Why do you need one of those in order to have a West station, plenty of places are Something and then Something N, Something W etc in order to separate them from the original Something.
Wait… So…
Which train station do YOU think is the original/main one in Taipei? ![]()
