Not allowed is really allowed in most cases here. I really dont fault the guy. I think its worse that people uphold the rules in the MRT only, as soon as they leave they couldn’t care less how their behaviour effects others.
Does anyone know what happened on the Wenhu line? Why is it delayed?

Not really
I just was doing my usual transfer at Nanjing Fuxing and the guards were telling people that the line was unavailable.![]()
Yep, news only says there was an alarm.
CNA / Focus Taiwan reports that it was a “component malfunction” that triggered the system shut down.

Like you, I am not lovin’ these new train designs. ![]()

Why do they have to copy everything from Singapore?!
因為新加坡很高級啊!
Australian was drinking on a MRT. Taiwanese told him to stop to which the other responded with a middle finger. The Taiwanese pulled out a box cutter knife.

Looks like the drinker got off with the much lighter penalty, compared to the knife-wielder.
But because the drinker also flipped the bird, that opens him up to possible liability under the public insult law, right? Any idea what the current penalty for that is? An old thread says it was NT$300, but public insult might carry fines up to NT$9000.
Did you expect giving someone the middle finger to be treated the same as pulling a knife on someone?! Although it did happen in Taiwan I guess so anything is possible…
Possibly but there’s been at least one case recently where a judge decided, in a road rage type case, that the action was fleeting and therefore not a compensation worthy public insult.
I was getting my laws mixed up. The public insult law seems to carry low fines, but I think the public defamation law of Article 310 can carry a fine of up to NT$15,000.
Aussie customer on metro got in trouble for a drink.

Was the guy a tourist? Why was the other guy carrying a knife at all?
In case any Aussies tried in drink on the MRT obviously
We heard!
