Links to Two ROC Anti-Discrimination Statutes and One Regulation

This is not legal advice; I’m posting these links for informational purposes, and not to advise or advocate for or against any particular course of action.

An English Translation of Article 62 of the Immigration Act, forbidding discrimination “against people residing in the Taiwan Area on the basis of nationality, race, color, class and place of birth.”

Here is the Chinese-language version.

An English translation of Article 81 of the Immigration Act, instructing those in authority on the manner of dealing with discrimination cases, and establishing a range of fines for violators.

Here is the Chinese-language version.

An English translation of “Regulation for Petitions against Discrimination against People Residing in the Taiwan Area,” providing instructions on making and filing petitions in discrimination cases, and establishing time limits for filing.

Here is the Chinese-language version.

I hope this helps, or at least does no harm.

The Regulations for Petitions against Discrimination against People Residing in the Taiwan Area were finally amended so petitions & accompanying documents don’t have to be in Chinese https://gazette.nat.gov.tw/egFront/e_detail.do?metaid=157251

Whilst laws change, it’s always useful to have a screenshot/quote of the old ways so people clicking a link on the new ways have a way to make a comparison

Perhaps they should include age discrimination now that people are living longer and they want to up the pension age.

I doubt many governments want to openly discuss this issue….

Why not ? People are living way longer. If they’re reasonably healthy then that’s a lot of experience for the work place.

Because it is a MAASIVELY expensive venture. And when it comes to health care related things, at least in countries like Taiwan, once it is given it is political suicide to take it away. A great case in point is cancer and how little is covered by NHI despite other government agencies and eegukations likely being a root cause for having the disease in the first place.

My money is on them nit wanting peoole talking too deeply about it and revealing how fucked up the governemnts actions (or inactions) are, and certainly don’t want to strain a system (nhi) harder than it already is. The whole public health system here is going to go through some pretty hard realities as time progresses. Not just on age but actual health of the populace. Be it both khysical or mental (ie. Hypochondriacs taxing the already taxed system).

Of course, just my humble opinion
