Is there a place I can rent/beg/borrow/steal the little kids books?
The ones that are like 1-100 series on all topics with big fonts and zhuyin?
I don’t really want to buy them as I’ll finish reading each one in 1/2 hour to 1 1hour.
You can go to the library, or you can read them in a bookstore. Comic book stores throughout the city will also rent you comic books.
Ok I have an ARC card.
Where do I go to find the libraries?
Someone have a link?
Do I need to show anything other than my ARC to sign up for a library card?
Or does it work differently here.

I think you can get a library card with just a passport only, but you’ll surely be able to get one with your ARC.
Check out the Taipei Municipal Library on Jianguo Nan Lu. It is across from Da’An Park, next to a rather large block of sixteen story housing units. It’s between Heping East Road and Xinyi. Either walk down from where the flower market is or up from the branch of Wenhua Daxue.
I think you’ll be able to check out five books at a time. There are also some good English books available in the Foreign Languages section.
There might also be a branch library in your neighborhood (depending on where you live). Ask for a list of the branches when you sign up for your library card.
