Get married to someone with a house in the country side, and grow your own veggies in your small garden. Wake up everyday at 6 and go buy other produce at a traditional market. Install a roof top solar water heaters. Then never, ever, turn on the AC.

Live in a tiny room in danshui, get the t pass so you can spend your days riding trains, then get a job at 711 so you can eat free food?

Or go live in high altitudes so you don’t need ac. You do get lower oxygen level at high altitudes which may be bad for your health until you’re adapted to it.

Don’t rent.
At night, roam from convenience store to convenience store, taking naps roughly 90-120 minutes after buying NT$10 worth of something.

You can eat free food working at 7-11? Anything? I have never seen the personnel eating do they get like 5 minutes every 4 hours in the back?

Avoid restaurants, 7-11. Buy in bulk at Costco but don’t buy beef or expensive stuff.

They get expired food free

That seems… dubious.

It’s happened to me a couple of times that 7-11 staff wouldn’t sell me stuff just after midnight because it had gone out of date (it seemed the system wouldn’t let them scan it as a sale and flagged the items automatically, though I haven’t looked at the barcodes to see how they might accomplish that). Most stores seem pretty quick to remove expired stuff after midnight too and pack it up in trays.

I’d be surprised if a massive chain like 7-11 is encouraging their employees to take expired food. I always assumed it’d get binned or returned to the manufacturer. Aside from anything else, it seems like it would expose the company to some legal risk if anyone gets sick. Free old food is a bit of a weird perk too…

Cheap rental house, grow some food. Be social, trade things like food. Have a scooter and a bicycle. Don’t be a princess.

8k/month is very doable here even in 2024. Don’t expect to travel much abroad.

Easy to live cheap in tw. Especially if one is willing to be more social and community active.

Loads of franchise owners give their friends the expired stuff. I know, cause I’m one of their friends :joy: but aside from FDA regulations, they normally discount their stuff to 30% off just before expiry. I often see people going into various convenience stores at certain times looking for the deal.
