If you are into speaking you should be into reading because that’s what allows you to boost your vocabulary and understanding immensely. Before I learned to read Mandarin I made many mistakes in my pronunciation of words , I still do now by the way, just much fewer.
After spending time in Saigon. I think I will prefer to live in Saigon for a few months. So many good restaurants. It’s a bit more expensive but less pollution and traffic.
I can always fly to Hanoi as I just did and back.
one day i shall save up the money to go to Vietnam, get some shit bike, and meet up with my friend from there and ride all the way up and down and around that country. Found some off-road trails in the hinterlands, some twisties, many a historical location, etc. Dream trip right there. And I never met this dude, but we’ve been chatting online for years and played games and whatnot together. Plus, his English is great and can translate the Vietnamese for me ![]()
It looks damn amazing. And I find their history, not just Vietnam war era but also that, super interesting.
Absolutely, i think they have all the same tones too plus a couple extra ones. My Vietnamese classmates breezed through Chinese class. Only issue was one guy had a heavy AF accent that made him hard to understand but the girls were very smooth.
