Lost my AC remote

I have an Air Conditioner but have lost the remote. I can’t find the documentation either. I have no idea what brand it is because, although it says Proton on the front, I can find nothing on the net about it (I can only find Proton Car ACs. Any idea where I can get a new remote or if one of these so-called universal ones will work?

I think you just have to get one and put it on automatic and hope it finds a compatible one. It probably will.

I realize this doesn’t address the OP’s question of where to find a replacement. Sorry, but just for the future benefit of others, I would like to take a moment and point out the value of having controls on the AC unit in addition to the remote. Some do and some don’t. When you shop for something worth tens of thousands of NT$, take a moment to ask yourself – will it still work if I lose the remote? There’s no guarantee that when that remote stops working due to battery leakage (and the AC company refuses to take responsibility, blaming the batteries), the AC company will even have any replacement remotes available (even for an exorbitant fee). I’ve seen this happen. You’ve been warned.

I was under the impression that one can buy universal remotes for air conditioners.

Yeah, and I was sold a “universal remote” with my first TV (used) in Taiwan, which turned out to be a nightmare. In my (admittedly limited) experience with so-called “universal remotes”, they SUCK. YMMV.

Only if you buy the wrong one. All the ones I’ve had for various appliances (TV, AC, etc.) have worked just fine.

Proton should be the 普騰 brand. AC remote is 冷氣遙控器

Here is an auction selling a 14-in-1 Proton ac remote: tw.page.bid.yahoo.com/tw/auction … u=wishtech

If you can remember what your old remote looked like, you just find the corresponding code from the photo chart and input it into the new remote.

If you don’t know what model your AC is, take a photo and post it up here. Maybe I can find the make on the internet.

You can buy all-in-one remotes at many nightmarkets and stores that sell a bunch of household stuff. Where do you live?

I live in Danshui. Thanks for the help. I found a good universal that worked right off the bat.

How about TVs? I have a generic LDC tv and I can’t find a universal remote with the brand JG. I tried to search for it but there does not seem to be a brand with that name. The model number of the tv is MS-3026 and I found some information for it: dgmstv.en.china.cn/selling-leads … CD-TV.html
What do I need to look for so I can buy and program those universal remotes for this tv?
Thanks a lot!

Hi OP, my remote for my SOWA aircon broke down last year so i picked up a universal remote from Carrefour for a few hundred bucks (maybe $500 tops). i have checked the back of my remote (which lists the types of aircon it is compatible with) and it lists Proton, so you should be right. The brand of the universal remote is BlueSky… good luck!
