That’s your opinion. Perhaps you need a little more experience with how politics and the government works here. If Ma had taken a strong stance against Lien at the time, he never would have had the chance to become KMT chairman and thus implement reforms. He had to tow the party line at the time, otherwise his future in the KMT and hopes for change would have amounted to nothing.
He doesn’t need to. The US will not allow such a strategically important place as Taiwan fall into Communist China’s hands. You may not “believe” or “think” so, but Taiwan’s strategic importance to the US is not up for compromise. Lien, Ma, Soong or whoever isn’t going to change that.
You really have a bad attitude whenever anyone says anything remotely positive about anyone other than who you support. I agree with most of your posts in other areas, except for when it comes to Taiwanese politics. Your attitude isn’t going to change any minds, especially mine, so I don’t think it’s necessary to continue this debate.
