Macau

Just back from Macau, gambled a bit, won about 30k twd. Good trip to say the least.

It is way better then three years ago, all sorts of big casinos and fun to be had for all! I highly recommend it! The airport is about five minutes fromm City of Dreams (Hard Rock Hotel, and two others (big complex of 3 hotels, shopping center (high roller shopping though) and fun)). Across the street is Venetian, both huge places to shop, see a show and also gamble. Seems they are welcoming tourists there so they are more then willing to see a winner walk away!

Loads of FUN, super convenient and a load of great times!!!

Thats my two cents worth.

Ok, any suggestions on what airline to buy my fake ticket from, in terms of cancellation cost/policy? Do I buy the ticket, print out the itinerary, and cancel immediately, or do I need to keep it until after I go on the run because they might actually call the airline or something?

really, though. At least the part about can I buy, print, cancel.

No, don’t cancel the ticket immediately. Make sure it’s valid until you’ve got the visa in your hands and are back in Taiwan.

While you’re at it, try to make sure you buy a ticket that you actually CAN cancel and get your money back on.

That’s good to here. I’m thinking of stopping by there next month.

I think that proves the point that Macau is only good for its casinos. And I’m guessing - just a guess - that winning a thousand dollars is not the average result…

…having said that, there’s a Portuguese restaurant in the Venetian in one of the “piazzas” that has excellent Portuguese food at reasonable prices (for a casino)

Except for horse racing, I’m not much of a gambler. I just want to see the new casinos and some old-fashioned decadence.

I think Macau doesnt have horse racing (they got greyhound racing) while HK does have horse racing.

Yes they do. I’ve been there.

Portuguese food at a Portuguese restaurant? Now that’s something worth investigating.

Cool, where tho? I was told Macau doesnt have Horse Racing. Course last time I was there was 99. So maybe things are different now.

cheapest place I can find is 700NT, anyone know any secret super cheap spots? I don’t mind sleeping in a closet.

700NT is super cheap.

I really liked Macau when it was a relaxed, uncrowded place with some great restaurants. I get the impression that I wouldn’t care much for it now.

Stupid Mandarin Airlines doesn’t bother to translate anything that would help you to actually book a flight… :raspberry:

East Asia Hotel was OK for the price but beds are rock hard…as in not very different to sleeping on the floor.

You have to go in their office. Best to do so at EVA and TransAsia as well. Most Taiwanese get tickets thru their travel agents and they (agents) go to the airline offices.

It seems we are heading to the end of an era, as Taiwan’s Macau Office is reportedly scheduled to be sold off (in lieu of outright seizure by the Chinese Communists) and closed.

I clicked and thought oh, not the drink shop!

The drink shop named “Macu” appears to be fine, at least for now. :upside_down_face:

Hey, I resent that characterization. I was one of those kids, albeit I wasn’t a “scumbag”.

“Yanko-Canadian”?
