Hi everyone. I’ve been attacked, stalked by this one guy twice in the last year or so who seems to think I have some sort of beef with him online. I have no social media.
I need to find mace or another legal self defence weapon in case this guy comes back with a knife.
Apparently you can’t do restraining orders unless they’re considered family. Does extend to non marital romantic relationships. IE Boyfriend/Girlfriend
Today I learned. Both cops and Lawyer Kuo confirmed.
This confirms my suspicion that the person will confront you first and foremost (as opposed to get you from behind with a knife). Perhaps you should consider some BJJ courses. And put your phone down when you’re ready to confront him.
It makes things legally murky unfortunately and put me in prison and on the deportation list. It’s tough waters to navigate when you’re full of adrenaline.
If there’s any reason the citizenship laws are infuriating. It’s this one.
My understanding is that for self defence, water based pepper spray is legal, oil based is not. As you’re probably already aware, Taiwan’s definition of self defence is very limited in scope, someone swinging a baseball bat in your direction is not necessartily grounds for defending yourself! Best to carefully consult with your lawyer on the limits.
Yeah, run whenever possible. That’s advice from people who are really good at defending themselves, by the way. Too much at risk no matter how you look at it. But he’s stalking you. It has to be stopped somehow. Usually one confrontation ends these things. But it seems all of us foreigners need to be careful, as you pointed out.
Can you get any sort of consumer grade body cams like the police in the US and other countries have, so you can wear it when you’re outside your house until the next time he confronts and potentially attacks you?
Of course it doesn’t stop them trying to hurt you, but does record evidence if they do.
I’ve been thinking about that too. I’ve never had to consider this kind of stuff before. He seems to know where I go for lunch cause I work in an office.
So yeah, if anyone sees anything.
@Steeeve Shopee is good. But if anyone also sees things in stores too, then hopefully this can be helpful for those who google it in the future.
Sorry to hear it. Just as an aside, buying something in a store or online doesn’t mean it’s legal. I would certainly triple check the tool of choice is actually legal. It’s why people carry a ball and mit in their car, then the bat ain’t illegal
Be careful, self defense with legal items and self defense with illegal items has a different news headline and potentially a different resident status as you pointed out.
Recording him, perhaps in from of a camera that you know the owner of, police station, 711 etc. Then a small chat in front followed by a police call and official report with them checking said cameras. Also recording everything yourself. Extra evidence can’t hurt.
I think the store is most likely going to be the legal option but I’d run it by my lawyer anyways, and examples on this thread can help others be on the right track.
